# Turf — case study

A desktop app for managing lead lists and the areas they cover: import a list, see it on a map, and check every phone number before anyone dials it — with the original file always left untouched.

**Category:** Desktop app · Lead-list tools
**Stack:** Tauri, React, TypeScript, Rust, Python, SQLite

- **Industry:** Lead management · Real estate
- **Platforms:** Desktop app (Tauri)
- **Stack:** Tauri 2 · React · Rust · Python · SQLite
- **Scope:** SoftFix product · Design & full-stack development

## The problem

Lead lists arrive as spreadsheets of uneven quality: wrong numbers, numbers on do-not-call lists, and no sense of which areas the list actually covers — so callers waste time and risk calling people they should not.

## Our solution

Turf keeps each list in a local project, places its rows on a map by address or ZIP, and walks you through a five-step phone check. Every number gets a verdict with reasons; manual marks like wrong number or do-not-call feed back into later checks.

## The outcome

A list you can trust before the first call: callable numbers are ranked, risky ones are flagged with the reason, and the original file is never changed — you save a checked copy instead.

## Facts

- 3 workspaces — dashboard, lists and skip tracing
- 4 phone verdicts — corroborated, unverified, suspicious, wrong
- 5 guided steps from columns to a saved checked copy
- 0 changes to your original file

## Inside the product

- **Dashboard:** Row totals, the share of rows with a number to call, the phone-verdict mix and a coverage map of every list in the project.
- **Lists & areas:** Open any list to see its rows, the states, cities and ZIPs it covers, and a street map with ZIP outlines. Download the original or the checked copy.
- **Skip tracing, step by step:** Match your columns, map call outcomes to what they mean, and review the warning signs before anything is checked.
- **Results you can explain:** Every phone number gets a verdict and a reason. Active do-not-call evidence always blocks a recommended number.
